Thank you for your interest in volunteering with CYNASSISTS.
We GIVE BACK to organizations, mainly homeless shelters, that support and bring awareness to the homeless on a Quarterly basis. We are passionate about giving time and raising money to address the issues others face in our world. It's clearly not about us. Every day, volunteers like you help transform the lives of others whether it be directly or indirectly just by giving back. I work with the Volunteer Coordinators directly so that you don't have to. Sign up below to learn about our upcoming volunteer opportunities and community service.
Also, on an annual basis we register our team and participate in SOME's Thanksgiving Day, 5 K- Trot for Hunger as they support the hungry and homeless in Washington DC. Proceeds from the 5K benefit thousands of homeless families and single adults, including the elderly and people suffering from mental illness, by providing much-needed food, clothing, and healthcare.
If you have giving hands, we are looking for your time. If you would like to join our team as we trot for hunger Thanksgiving morning, sign up to be a part of our team. Bring your family.
We Thank You in advance for your giving hands! It's the CYNASSISTS WAY!
The driving force of our GIVE BACK initiative is due to being homeless myself. When I was in high school, a homeless shelter called "La Mesita" in Arizona re-positioned my mother's journey by helping her get back on her feet. They provided shelter for our family, got her a job, helped her save money, and assisted with getting us a new place to call home.
Every day, dedicated volunteers help us transform wasted food into balanced meals for our community. They prepare and deliver more than 5,000 meals to partner homeless shelters, rehabilitation clinics, halfway houses, and afterschool programs each day We work with DC Central's kitchen staff to cut, chop, peel and prep food in their kitchen – no cooking or food service experience required! All volunteers must be 12 years or older.
Volunteers play an essential role in SOME’s work, helping to feed the homeless and poor in their Dining Rooms, tutoring children in our affordable housing programs for families, serving vulnerable elderly and more. We volunteer mostly in their dinning rooms. Youth Volunteers at the age of 13 may serve.
